With blog traffic up this week because of the Winter Meetings, I figured this was a great time to let you all know about something awesome. Something nice you can do for people this holiday season.
Having spent nearly a month at Children’s Hospital in Boston when I injured my hand as a kid, it’s a cause that is obviously important to me. If it’s a cause you like to support as well, this is a great way to help.
Here’s the deal:
Buy a Christmas ornament in support of the “Friends For Life†Seattle Children’s Hospital Guild. Friends for Life is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization raising money to support research both alleviating the long-term side effects of cancer treatment on children, as well as seeking a cure.
Each year the Friends for Life Guild selects an ambassador from Seattle Children’s Hospital who has previously or is currently battling cancer. The ambassador is honored with the privilege of selecting the color and design of that year’s hand-blown glass ornament. Their 2010 Ornament Ambassador is Jackson. He is six years old and is celebrating being cancer-free for five years! His ornament is a beautiful combination of blue and green. Please support cancer research at Seattle Children’s by purchasing these lovely pieces of art. They also make an excellent gift that gives to cancer research!
