Jack Zduriencik and Director of International Operations Tim Kissner announced today that the Mariners have hired Eddy Toledo as Director of Dominican Operations.

Toledo brings 30 years of experience in baseball with both the Mets (1981-2006) and the Rays (2006-2012). Among those signed by Toledo are over 30 future Major League players including All Stars Jose Reyes, Carlos Gomez, Guillermo Mota, Hector Carrasco and Fernando Martinez.

“We are very excited to add Eddy as our Director of Dominican Operations,” said Kissner in the press release. “Eddy is a much respected scout and his experience, record of signing Major League players and ability to represent the Mariners in a first class manner, make him the perfect individual for this job.”

The Mariners are looking to strengthen their foothold in the Dominican, announcing in November plans to construct a new state of the art academy near Boca Chica. The team currently shares a rented facility with the Dodgers.
