Tuesday afternoon marked an occasion about as rare as a solar eclipse or a sighting of bigfoot: Marshawn Lynch talked to the media.
The former Seahawks running back has long had a reputation for keeping himself distant from the microphones of reporters, yet there he stood at the podium following the Oakland Raiders’ Organized Team Activity (OTA), answering questions for a little over four minutes. The questions – and especially his responses – primarily were related to his relationship with Oakland, where he was born and raised.

The most enlightening news to come out of Lynch’s press conference was his disclosure on when he decided to come out of retirement to join the Raiders, which required cooperation from the Seahawks, who still had his rights when he un-retired.
“When I found out they (the Raiders) was leaving,” Lynch said in response to being asked when he decided to come back and play football.
The Raiders are scheduled to move to Las Vegas beginning with the 2020 NFL season.
