Another day, another pitching move, as the Mariners prepare for Sunday’s 10:07 a.m. game against the Blue Jays on 710 ESPN Seattle.
The Marines recalled right-handed reliever Dan Altavilla from Triple-A Tacoma to replace righty Ryan Weber, who was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a right biceps strain. Weber was called up from Tacoma to start Saturday’s game, but was removed during the 4th inning with right shoulder tightness after allowing one run in 3.2 innings.
The Mariners optioned Altavilla to Triple-A on May 11 but the 24-year-old did not appear in a minor-league game before being recalled.
While the bullpen has changed, the Mariners will feature mostly the same starting linup Sunday that was stifled during Saturday’s 7-2 loss in Toronto. The only difference is veteran Carlos Ruiz back behind the plate, catching for lefty Ariel Miranda.
