Series- 1-1

Last Meeting- 1/9/10- Sacramento State 80-67

Seattle’s halftime lead evaporated thanks to an overwhelming second half Hornet surge. A school record six Hornets reach double-figures including all four off the bench. The reserves combined for 55 points on 17-30 shooting.

Scouting Sac State:

The Hornets have taken two of their past three games including a 74-67 triumph over Eastern Washington in their last contest on Sunday. The upward trend continues for the team that managed just two wins a year ago. This season the Hornets have tripled their win total from the last two years combined. The rebuilding process for Sac State has led to the cultivation of the JC ranks. Twelve of the 14 players on the current roster transferred from junior college and exactly one player has spent more than a year as a Hornet.

The Ones to Watch:

Justin Eller- 6’8 235 SR C- 10 ppg 5.5 rbd 0.5 assts

Eller is the only player to wear a Hornet jersey for more than two years. The senior is playing outstanding basketball pumping in 12.6 points per game and 6.4 rebounds in his last 14 games. He is coming off a 17 point 3 block performance. The burly 6’8 center anchors the middle while inflicting damage on his opponents in the paint.

John Dickson- 6’5 185 FR G/F- 10.5 ppg 3.6 rbds

The freshman out of Fairfield High School in San Francisco has made an immediate impact with the Hornets. He is one of two players averaging double-digit points on the season and he is third on the team in rebounds per contest. He shoots a good percentage at 44% and can knock down the occasional 3- 40%. Dickson can provide a match up problem due to his versatility.

Keys to the Game:

1- Rebounds- Seattle is 11-5 when out-rebounding their opponents. Seattle is + 10.5 in wins and – 4.2 in losses.

2- Defense- Do not let Sac State get to the basket. They need to get to the rim to score.

3- Turn up the pace- Seattle can run away with the game if they can sufficiently speed up the Hornets.
Seattle is looking for revenge. Tune in 15 minutes before tip on 710 ESPN Seattle and the live blog will be cooking at seattleufan.com.
