Last Meeting- December 15. 2010- The Eagles held on for a 95-91 win in Cheney.

Scouting Eastern:

This is one of the youngest and least experienced team in Division I basketball. Big Sky freshman of the year Glen Dean returned from a stress fracture in his foot in the outing just before these teams met the first time around. He has helped stabilize this young squad. They have been riding the roller coaster this year just as Seattle U has. Eastern played their best game of their season against SU the first time around, but they have managed just a 1-3 record since. They have struggled badly away from home at just 0-6.

The Ones to Watch:

Glen Dean- 5’10 SO G- 13.5 ppg 3 rbs 4 assts

Dean was the leading scorer for the Eagles last year with over 12 points per games. He earned Big Sky Freshman of the year and is the leader of a talented sophomore trio. His scoring is down from a year ago as he works himself back into shape. He missed the first part of the season with injury- this will be his 7th game of the season.

Jeffrey Forbes- 5’10 SO G- 13.6 ppg

The talented SO from Federal Way High School is the leading scorer for Eastern and he torched SU the first time around. He scored 20 points while sinking 10-11 free throws. His shooting percentage from three (43%) is actually better than his field goal percentage from the floor (41%). He and Kevin Winford combine to be a dynamic duo from 3-Land.

Keys to the Game:

1- Good Start- The last two games are a perfect example- Good start at Virginia and the play well and win. Bad start at Pepperdine and they struggle throughout the game. The start can dictate their play throughout the game.

2- Keep Eastern off the line- They struggle shooting at times, but they marched to the stripe 42 times in the first meeting.

3- Knock Down Shots- This is a constant. Teams are packing the paint and hitting shots will help to loosen things up.

Numbers to Know:

– SU is 3-1 when leading at the half and 1-9 when trailing at the half.

We shall see if SU can claim the revenge win. Tune in 15 minutes before tip on 710 ESPN Seattle and the live blog will be cooking at seattleufan.com.
