Lineups: Chris Iannetta back behind plate as Mariners go for sweep
Aug 21, 2016, 10:51 AM
The Mariners will go for their seventh sweep of the season Sunday against the Brewers and hope to continue their push to the postseason.
The Mariners will stick with the same lineup as in Saturday night’s 8-2 win other than Chris Iannetta starting behind the plate over Mike Zunino. Zunino had a home run and three RBI’s Saturday and has been hot since being recalled July 20, posting a .281/.405/.641 slash-line in 23 games. Zunino’s 13 extra-base hits during that time are tied for fourth in the Majors among catchers.
The Mariners have won 12 of their last 15 games and entered the day one game behind Baltimore for the second Wild Card spot. The Mariners are 10 games over .500, a spot they haven’t been since defeating Oakland on May 25, to improve to 28-18.
Seattle’s six sweeps are tied for sixth-most in club history — still lagging behind the magical 2001 season that included 14 sweeps.
First pitch at Safeco Field is set for 1:10 p.m. and will be live on 710 ESPN Seattle. The pregame show begins at noon.
