Seahawks Football 101: Where Seattle’s run D lacked vs Buccaneers

The Seahawks made a big statement defensively in a Week 8 win over the New York Giants, but the defense had some big issues during Seattle’s 21-16 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Munich, Germany in Week 10.

During that Week 8 win, the Seahawks shut down the Giants’ dangerous run game, limiting them to just 78 yards on the ground on 28 carries. What made that so notable is New York has been one of the best rushing teams in football this year with star back Saquon Barkley leading the charge and quarterback Daniel Jones adding major yards on the ground, too.
The Buccaneers, meanwhile, entered Week 10 with the NFL’s worst rushing offense, but they were able to run for over 160 yards against the Seahawks.
So what changed for Seattle from Week 8’s successful outing against New York to a dissapointing showing against Tampa?
In his latest Football 101 video breakdown, former NFL linebacker Dave Wyman of Seattle Sports’ Wyman and Bob broke down one play from the Giants game where the Seahawks’ defense recorded a tackle for loss and compared it to a play on Sunday when Seattle allowed a big gain up the middle to rookie Bucs running back Rachaad White.
