Bump’s Breakdown: What Seahawks’ next area of improvement is

Oct 18, 2022, 12:06 PM

The Seahawks took a big step forward on Sunday, keeping the Arizona Cardinals’ offense entirely out of the end zone in a 19-9 win that put Seattle in a three-way tie for first place in he NFC West.

Carroll: What stands out from Seahawks’ rookies after another big day

The notable improvement for the Seahawks was on defense, as the unit rebounded from allowing at least 27 points in each of Seattle’s last four games, including 45 and 39 points in their previous two games, respectively.

Seattle’s offense has done surprisingly well this season, too, thanks to a stellar showing by quarterback Geno Smith in his first year taking over the reins behind center following the departure of Russell Wilson in a trade to the Denver Broncos.

So what’s the next step for the Hawks? In the latest breakdown video for the Seattle Sports YouTube channel from former NFL wide receiver Michael Bumpus, he details why it has to do with special teams.

Watch the video at this link or at the top of this post, and catch Bump on Seattle Sports’ Bump and Stacy, which airs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays. You can also hear him as host of both Hawks Live on Thursday nights on Seattle Sports, and the Seahawks Radio Network pregame, halftime and postgame shows.

The 3-3 Seahawks continue play in Week 7 of the NFL season at 1:25 p.m. Sunday when they go to Los Angeles to take on the Chargers. Coverage will be carried on Seattle Sports beginning with the 10 a.m. pregame show.
