The Seahawks have agreed to terms with free-agent running back Kregg Lumpkin, 710 ESPN Seattle’s Liz Mathews reports.
Lumpkin, 27, figures to compete for a backup role in Seattle. The Seahawks entered free agency looking for a big-bodied running back to provide depth behind starter Marshawn Lynch. They had interest in Michael Bush before the former Raider signed with the Bears.
Lumpkin spent the past two seasons with the Buccaneers, appearing mainly on special teams. In 16 games last season, he rushed for 105 yards on 31 carries.
Lumpkin was signed by the Packers as an undrafted free agent out of Georgia in 2008, when Seahawks general manager John Schneider was in Green Bay’s front office.
