Pete Carroll gave this response when asked whether there was anything significant about Tarvaris Jackson working with the first-team offense during the Seahawks’ scrimmage on Sunday:
“Yeah, it means he’s working with the first unit. I can’t make it anymore obvious than that. He worked with the first unit today.”
We’re left to speculate in the absence of any indication from Carroll about which quarterback he’s leaning toward choosing as the starter. That’s what Bob Stelton and Dave Wyman did when they welcomed Eric Williams of The News Tribune for a nine-minute conversation on Monday.
“I think it tells you that right now they believe that T-Jack is slightly ahead of the other two because of his experience in this system, and that nobody has really leapt ahead of him right now,” Williams said.
“…I think in terms of the perspective of the team, they haven’t seen anything that would indicate that they need to put Matt Flynn or Russell Wilson ahead of T-Jack at this point. I think it would be likely that T-Jack’s going to start this first preseason game.”
Stelton and Wyman share more thoughts on Jackson in the video below.
