Fans flocking to Safeco Field to honor King Felix

Safeco Field will be a lot busier than usual Tuesday night as Felix Hernandez takes the mound against Cleveland for the first time since throwing a perfect game last week against Tampa Bay.
“We have sold about 30,000 tickets so far and that’s certainly the best that we’ve done on a Tuesday night for quite some time,” says Rebecca Hale, Mariners spokeswoman.
The team is giving away commemorative “King of Perfection” T-shirts and signs honoring Hernandez to the first 34,000 fans through the gate. The gold colored shirts feature a profile of Hernandez striking the now iconic pose after he struck out the final batter on Aug. 15.

“We’re turning the whole ballpark into the King’s Court. We’re calling it the Supreme Court,” Hale says.
While fans are getting plenty of freebies, they likely won’t get what they’d really like to see, a repeat of history. Hernandez’ perfect game was just the 23rd in major league baseball history.
