Another weapon in the passing game – especially one who could help out in the red zone – is something Eric Williams of The Tacoma News Tribune included in his list of the Seahawks’ top five offseason needs.
Williams, joining “Bob and Groz” to discuss that list on Tuesday, said that addition could come in the form of a tight end as opposed to a wide receiver.
“That’s one of the reasons they made that trade for Kellen Winslow, is because they felt they had a need at that position,” he said. “I think that was one of the motivating factors to get Anthony McCoy going, and we saw him make some plays during the season. Maybe he’s a guy that could fill that role full-time for them. But you still see some inconsistencies with McCoy in catching passes and dropping the easy ones at times.
“If you can get an explosive player that can threaten the middle of the field, I think it certainly helps this offense, particularly in the red zone.”
The video below includes additional thoughts on this subject from Bob Stelton and Dave Grosby.
