Percy Harvin has reportedly decided to retire, calling it quits on a career that included a tumultuous and ultimately disappointing stint with the Seahawks.

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk and ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Harvin’s decision on Thursday. Florio characterized it as a difficult one for Harvin to make, saying that he had “definitely” intended to play earlier in the offseason before changing his mind despite interest from multiple teams.

Harvin, who turns 28 next month, spent a season and a half with the Seahawks after he was acquired in a 2013 trade with Minnesota. He missed most of his first season in Seattle while recovering from hip surgery, though he returned a kickoff for a touchdown to help Seattle win Super Bowl XLVIII. The Seahawks traded Harvin to the Jets in October of 2014 after clashes with teammates and a reported instance of insubordination with Seattle’s coaches.

He spent last season with Buffalo.

Harvin’s stint with the Seahawks included only two touchdowns and 16 games missed due to injury along with the aforementioned drama. All things considered, including the money Seattle paid him and the draft-pick compensation it took to get him, Harvin was arguably the biggest flop of the Pete Carroll-John Schneider era.

According to the website Spotrac.com, Harvin made more than $41 million during his seven seasons in the NFL. That includes a little over $19 million from the Seahawks.
