The Seahawks will be adding defensive end Branden Jackson back to their roster a little over a week after he was released, according to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

OK Boomer – Esiason reckless to speculate about Seahawks’ Adams

Jackson and center Joey Hunt were released at the same time Seattle waived seven other players on July 26, creating extra space under the salary cap. Jackson and Hunt were both set to make $2.133 million in 2020 after signing tenders as restricted free agents.

Per Rapoport, the 27-year-old Jackson is expected to sign Wednesday with the Seahawks on a different deal than his previous one – which is to say almost certainly cheaper – as long as he clears COVID-19 testing and protocol.

Jackson has spent the last three of his four NFL seasons with Seattle after breaking into the league in 2016 as an undrafted free-agent signing with the Raiders. He initially joined the Seahawks as a practice squad member in 2017. In 2019, he had two sacks, three quarterback hits and 20 combined tackles in 15 games (three starts). For his career, Jackson has 3.5 sacks, all with the Seahawks.
