The Seattle Seahawks have signed Stephen Morris as a backup quarterback.

The move comes just days after the Seahawks reportedly postponed a visit with former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

Morris, 25, was a two-year starter in college at Miami (2012, 2013). He finished his college career with 7,896 passing yards for 49 touchdowns.

Over the past four seasons, Morris has spent time in the NFL with Jacksonville, Philadelphia, Washington and Indianapolis. He initially signed with Jacksonville as an undrafted free agent in 2014.

Though he has yet to take a snap in an NFL regular season game, Morris did work under current Seahawks offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, who was the Indianapolis quarterbacks coach, in 2016 and 2017.

Despite being released prior to the 2017 regular season, Morris had a strong preseason, completing 38 of 56 attempts for 399 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions.

The Seahawks also announced Friday that running back J.D. McKissic and defensive lineman Quinton Jefferson will both be back in 2018 after signing their exclusive rights free agent tenders this week.
