Former Seahawks wide receiver Paul Richardson is expected to sign a five-year, $40 million deal with Washington, per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.

Richardson, 25, spent four seasons in Seattle after he was drafted by the Seahawks in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

The speedy receiver had a promising rookie season before suffering a torn ACL in a divisional playoff game against the Panthers. Richardson suffered a season-ending hamstring injury the following season, and was limited to 21 receptions for 288 yards in 2016.

However, 2017 saw a healthier Richardson, who in turn posted a breakout season. He appeared in all 16 games, starting 13, and finished the season with 44 catches for 703 yards and six touchdowns.

Ultimately, Richardson may have proved too pricey a weapon for the Seahawks, who sit in the bottom third of the league in salary cap space.

The loss of Richardson leaves Seattle with six receivers: Doug Baldwin, Tyler Lockett, Amara Darboh, Marcus Johnson (acquired last week as part of a trade with the Eagles), Davis Moore and Cyril Grayson.
