My apologies for no morning post but a couple of interviews I had been waiting for came through and I had to drive to Phoenix for the game against the A’s once they were completed. No driving and blogging in Arizona.

Quick notes from that game, which is going on now:

Hisashi Iwakuma got the start and wasn’t as sharp as he has been. After finishing with a groundout/flyout ratio of 9-1 in his last start, today he was 4-5. He gave up three runs on five hits and two walks and after the game said that he had a tough time getting a good grip on the ball. Besides that everything felt good. He threw 76 pitches, 46 for strikes. Not a typical line for him but he did get his innings and limited damage on a day he was off.

Michael Morse hit his sixth home run of the spring, another no doubter to left-center. Justin Smoak had two solid hits and looked good scoring from second on a Dustin Ackley single. Jesus Montero hit the ball well today but was robbed of a home run as Coco Crisp leapt at the wall to bring it back. Or so I think. No replay, so I only saw it once.

Brad Miller got his second straight start and had a two-RBI double. If he is not already, Nick Franklin should be looking over his shoulder.

I may or may not be able to stay for the end of this as I need to get back to Peoria for the “Cactus League Report”. Speaking of…

Guests scheduled to join us tonight at the Salty Senorita include Michael Saunders, Dustin Ackley, Kyle Seager, Nick Franklin, Brad Miller, Charlie Furbush, Mike Brumley and Mike Blowers. Join us at the Salty Senorita at 6 or tune in on 710 ESPN to catch the show at 7.
