Clayton’s Schooled: Justin Forsett on the evolution of RB position

Aug 30, 2017, 5:36 PM

Former Seahawks running back Justin Forsett joins this week’s edition of Schooled With The Professor. The topic is the position of running back and how he has seen it evolve.

Forsett retired this offseason after a nice, nine-year career. Like so many football players, he started at the age of 7. He grew up watching the workhorse backs who would get 20 or more carries a game, but by the time Forsett got into the NFL, things had changed. More teams started to have running back rotations, and backs have watched their salaries drop. Now it’s to the point where only one back averaged more than 20 carries a game and just 13 had 1,000-yard seasons last year.

Still, Forsett had fun. As a small, quick back, Forsett was a perfect role player in a rotation. He also was a college and Seahawks teammate of Marshawn Lynch, so of course Forsett tells some Marshawn stories. He also talks about his Shower Pill company that is freshening up athletes after workouts.
