‘Brock and Salk’ assess each of the Seahawks’ 11 draft picks

Brock Huard and Mike Salk dissected each of the Seahawks’ 11 draft picks on Monday, discussing how they fit with the team’s identity. Salk defined that identity with three questions: On offense, does the player make the running game better? On defense, will he make impact plays that either intimidate opposing offenses or force turnovers? And overall, does he make the team meaner, tougher and more physical?
Brock Huard said none of the team’s draft choices fit that mold better than Malik McDowell, the defensive tackle Seattle chose in the second round after trading back twice and the one player that John Clayton said the team had targeted all along.
“If this dude’s cranked up and you’ve got to block on third down in that building … and you’ve got to block Frank Clark, Malik McDowell, Cliff Avril and Michael Bennett – good luck,” Huard said. “And you know what that does, that helps your secondary. So good luck trying to block those four consistently.”
