Seahawks sign 10 players to futures contracts

RENTON – The first order of business once an NFL team’s season ends is the signing of players to futures contracts. The Seahawks announced 10 of them on Tuesday.
They are: center Ross Burbank, guard/center Will Pericak, free safety Pierre Desir, running backs George Farmer and Kelvin Taylor, defensive tackles Tylor Harris and Shaneil Jenkins, fullback Malcolm Johnson, wide receiver Kenny Lawler and tight end Marcus Lucas.
All 10 of those players finished the season on Seattle’s practice squad or the practice squad Injured Reserve. Because practice squads (and the practice squad IR) dissolve at the end of a team’s season, those players were no longer under contract. Signing them to futures deals secures their rights for the upcoming season.
Farmer and Taylor both spent time briefly on Seattle’s 53-man roster this season while Lawler was a rookie seventh-round pick.
