Seahawks coach Pete Carroll told “Brock and Salk” on Monday that running back Thomas Rawls is in line to play Sunday for the first time since injuring his leg in Week 2.
“Thomas is ready to go, yeah,” Carroll said. “We talked real earnestly about it (over) the weekend. He’s going to practice to play this week and if everything goes well, he’ll play this week.”

Rawls has missed the last seven games due to a crack in his fibula. He returned to practice last week, listed as a limited participant the first two days then a full participant on Friday. His expected return to the Seahawks’ backfield for their home game against Philadelphia comes on the heels of a breakout performance by rookie C.J. Prosise, who made his first career start Sunday night against New England. Prosise gained 66 yards on 17 carries and caught seven passes for 87 yards, taking over for Christine Michael as Seattle’s primary backfield option.
Carroll was asked if he’s excited about the competition Seattle now has at running back with Prosise’s emergence and Rawls’ return from injury.
“Heck yeah. I’ve been waiting for this one for a while now,” Carroll said. “We’re ready for this to happen. We’ve been waiting for this mix and so we’ll bring Thomas along slowly and make sure that he’s OK and all that, not overwork him, but he’s in great shape. He looked fantastic this week. He looked just unbelievably quick and very confident in making his moves and stuff, so we’re really excited about it.”
Carroll said it will be a “couple weeks probably” before defensive end Michael Bennett returns from arthroscopic knee surgery. The most recent timetable Carroll gave on Bennett suggested he would likely miss Sunday’s game against Philadelphia and could be back the following week, when Seattle plays at Tampa Bay.
“He’s doing great,” Carroll said of Bennett. “Everybody’s raving about how he’s coming along. Couple weeks probably.”
