Lineups: Mariners’ Hisashi Iwakuma set for final regular season start
Oct 1, 2016, 2:51 PM
In a game they absolutely cannot afford to lose, the Mariners will hand the ball to their most consistent starter of 2016.
Hisashi Iwakuma will make his final start of the regular season on Saturday against the A’s on a day a loss could mean the end of postseason hopes for the M’s. If the Blue Jays win tonight at Boston and the Mariners fall to Oakland, Seattle would be mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.
The 35-year-old Iwakuma will be looking to push his career-high win total to 17; he enters the game 16-12 with a 3.96 ERA and 1.30 WHIP.
Seattle’s lineup is again the same as its been for the first two of the series with Oakland starting another right-hander in rookie Jharel Cotton.
First pitch for Game 3 of the Mariners’ season-ending series with the Athletics is set for 6:10 on 710 ESPN Seattle. Coverage begins at 5 with the pregame show.
