Russell Wilson now has more victories in his first two seasons than any starting quarterback in the Super Bowl era, taking sole possession of the record with Seattle’s win over the Giants on Sunday.

Wilson was tied with Ben Roethlisberger for the record, which takes into account only regular-season wins. Wilson has 23 of them after the Seahawks improved to 12-2, which betters by one their win total from last season.

Wilson went 18 of 27 for 206 yards, a touchdown and an interception against the Giants. The touchdown pass was the 50th of Wilson’s career, which put him in rare company. Dan Marino and Peyton Manning are the only other quarterbacks who reached that total in their first two seasons.

“These are markers that this guy’s just going to continue to knock off,” coach Pete Carroll said. “He’s so special, he’s such a tremendous competitor and such a unique individual that he’s able to do this kind of stuff that catches him up with the names that are on these kinds of lists right now. We’re real proud of him and excited for him. It won’t waver him an inch, but it’s really cool that he’s been able to do that.”

Aside from Wilson and Roethlisberger, only three other starting quarterbacks since 1966 won 20 games during their first two seasons: Marino (21), Matt Ryan (20) and Joe Flacco (20).
