RENTON – You can look at Tharold Simon and see a liability.
After all, the second-year cornerback has been penalized 12 times, most of any player on Seattle’s roster.
But Richard Sherman sees something else: a player not just with potential, but someone who reflects Sherman’s own path from a fifth round pick.
“I think I saw a little bit of myself in him,” Sherman said. “I also saw a little bit of Brandon Browner in some of his ways. I think he has the potential to be a great corner in this league. I want him to be able to reach that potential, and anything I can do to help him, I’m trying to do.”
Simon is in his second year with the team, but did not play as a rookie because of a foot injury. He intercepted the first pass of his career on Sunday in Philadelphia.
