MINNEAPOLIS – The Seahawks’ list of inactive players for today’s wild-card game against Minnesota doesn’t include any major surprises.
That came Friday evening when the team declared running back Marshawn Lynch out, a strange turn of events that began with coach Pete Carroll saying he would play before backing off that declaration. The team listed Lynch as questionable then announced later that he won’t play, adding that he didn’t even make the trip to Minneapolis.
Christine Michael will presumably be Seattle’s primary ball-carrier in Lynch’s absence, with Bryce Brown getting some early-down work as well and Fred Jackson remaining the team’s third-down back.
There was one mild surprise on Seattle’s inactive list. Linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis wasn’t on the injury report last week and hasn’t been for a while, which means he’s presumably a healthy scratch. Same for rookie offensive lineman Mark Glowinski, who drew strong reviews from Seattle’s coaches for the way he played last week against Arizona while making his first career start.
Tight end Luke Willson is inactive, as expected. The team ruled him out Friday due to the concussion that also sidelined him last week.
Seattle’s other inactives are cornerback Tye Smith, offensive lineman Kristjan Sokoli and defensive tackle A.J. Francis.
Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is active, as expected, after dealing with a lower-back issue last week. Defensive tackle Kenrick Ellis is the most notable player among Minnesota’s inactives.
