SEATTLE MARINERS

Aardsma and Kelley concerns

May 8, 2011, 11:51 AM | Updated: 12:19 pm

Couple of quick hits before the pre game show.

Shawn Kelley was scheduled to throw two-innings of a simulated game early this morning, but wasn’t able to completely loosen up in the first inning.

Kelley felt stiffness on his arm and side, and was taken back to the training room. Eric Wedge said that it was not a good sight to see but he didn’t believe the oblique was the problem. Should have more soon on this.

Also of concern, the situation with David Aardsma.

In speaking with him earlier today, Aardsma had yet to see the results of the MRI, but Wedge said several people were in the process of examining it. We could know more after the game. If there are multiple people looking at the MRI, my concern is that there may be something more to it.

Lastly, Franklin Gutierrez is under the weather. No, not the stomach but rather flu-like symptoms. He will not make the trip with the team to Cleveland, and instead head to Oklahoma City with the Rainiers.
