Seahawks

Everyone that follows football knew that Edgerrin James was going to be a Seahawk, Tuesday night it finally became official. Brock and I react. Hard not to like this move, though I’m not expecting Edge to set the world on fire. According to Mike Sando, James’ contract contains no guaranteed money until week 1 of the season, he sees this as insurance if Julius Jones gets injured. The non-guaranteed aspexct makes it even better, though also proves Edge wasn’t exactly wooed by other teams.

John Morgan sees Edge as a guy that is quick to the hole and through the hole. Art Thiel compares James to Franco Harris, not exactly a ringing endorsement.

Grey Ruegamer, famous for the way he castrates sheep, was waived yesterday to make room for Brian De La Puente. De La Puente is an offensive lineman from Kansas City. League sources are saying that Walter Jones’ injury could be season ending; scary news if it’s true, though this report may be far from believable.

Questions about the running game has made some fans look to the upcoming draft for a young back, here are three that will be among the top drafted. I still think you solve the problem with O-Line help, but I get that someone has to run the ball as well.

Steve Vallos is being put into the starting lineup again this year, but now he is ready. Olindo Mare was the closest Seahawk to the pin in their annual golf competition.

Jose Miguel Romero explains how difficult it is to get the field ready between Sounders and Seahawks games.

Mariners

22-Langers.standalone.prod affiliateAwesome game at Safeco last night with Ryan Langerhans hitting a game winning homerun in the 10th as the Mariners beat Oakland 4-2. This one had Jack Zduriencik’s stamp all over it. From Russell Branyan and Langerhans hitting home runs, to Bill Hall making defensive plays and switching positions, to David Aardsma throwing a nice inning to Franklin Gutierrez scoring the tying and go-ahead runs. Pretty impressive.

Dave Cameron writes that this offseason presents the challenge of going from average to great; we need another cornerstone player. Arizona Fall League players were announced and the Mariners are represented by their youngest stars. With no reason to rush Ichiro back in the lineup the M’s are being cautious and Ichiro probably won’t play again tonight. Here are two pictures that show just what happened on that homerun by Langerhans.

Huskies

Even though they can’t talk to the media, Husky freshmen are starting to look like stars. I think they better! Daniel Te’o-Nesheim will get help on the defensive line from Cameron Elisara this year. Don James visited Husky practice last night, he likes the direction of the program.

Notes:

-Mariners play Oakland at 7:10 tonight. Pregame at 6.

Luke French (3-3, 3.83 ERA) has been solid for the M’s so far.

Gio Gonzalez is 4-4 with a 5.78 ERA, but has given up 9 runs over his last 10 innings pitched.
