Seahawks

Aaron Curry had a rough second game in the NFL. He may have been a little over-aggressive. With Matt Hasselbeck’s status in question, it looks like the Seahawks may get back Chris Spencer, Walter Jones, and Deion Branch. All should return to practice this week. As for Hasselbeck, he is “absolutely hoping to play” against the Bears. Hasselbeck’s injury was the most talked about after Sunday, but he certainly is not the only Seahawk fighting to stay on the field.

Mike Sando gives his “stock watch” of key NFC West players. Sadly, 2 of 3 members in the “Falling” category are the Seahawks run defense, and Matt Hasselbeck.

The injury situation is obviously bad, but Steve Kelley wonders if a curse is to blame for all the injuries the last two seasons?

I’m hearing/reading a lot of criticism of Tim Ruskell based on the injuries. Do people really believe he is at fault? Really? This argument makes no sense to me and I intened to debunk it during the show today.

Mariners

I have been critical of Ken Griffey Junior this season, or more specifically, his playing time. But his attitude has been incredible and it has had a very real and positive effect on the clubhouse. Griffey’s big game against the Yankees on Sunday was a nice end to a good Seattle sports weekend (minus the Hawks of course).

After a day off, the M’s have Ryan Roland-Smith on the mound to face off against the Rays today in Tampa.

Franklin Gutierrez has been better than advertised this year. I’m wrong a lot, but I was right on this one. This guy is going to continue to get better.

Huskies

Pete Carroll had some high praise for Jake Locker. Gee thanks, Pete! How much do you think he was wishing he had Locker over Aaron Corp on Saturday? Wow, Corp was bad…

The biggest play of Saturday’s game was created on the sideline.

The Huskies face off against Stanford this week.

Misc

Plaxico Burress starts his prison sentence today. Sam Bradford is testing his arm today for the first time since injuring his shoulder against BYU. Lane Kiffin fired back at Urban Meyer’s insulting of Tennessee’s play calling.
