Seahawks

Finally, some good news on the injury front! Coach Mora didn’t completely confirm Matt Hasselbeck would return this week, but he seemed optimistic. He will try to practice tomorrow and Thursday. Eric D. Williams feels Matt Hasselbeck’s return to the lineup will help the overall “swagger” of the team.

Dave Wyman is coming to the defense of Seneca Wallace after the Hawks tough loss to the Colts on Sunday.

Despite the bleak start to the season, Gregg Bell has the story of Jim Mora’s attitude remaining optimistic about the rest of the year. Seahawks Insider Clare Farnsworth feels a sense of urgency floating around the VMAC. Good! This week is must win!

The Seahawks’ performance Sunday was not the only frustrating thing according to John Morgan. He posted his solution to bad announcing on his Field Gulls blog.

ESPN.com NFC West blogger Mike Sando has his weekly “NFC West Stock Watch,” and unfortunately there is a Seahawk “falling.”

Mariners

Larry Stone takes a look at the numerous challenges facing Mariners GM Jack Zduriencik this offseason. There are a lot of things to address for the Mariners between now and next season, and here are seven of the biggest questions facing them this offseason. Even with a lot of uncertainty surrounding the Mariners heading into the offseason, the future has a lot of promise according to Larry Larue .

John McGrath feels now that the season is over, Jack Zduriencik’s duties start with Felix Hernandez and Ken Griffey, Jr.

Gregg Bell has the story of the M’s impressive turn around after losing 100+ games last year. Jim Street takes a look at the players buying into Don Wakamatsu’s shift in attitude he provided to the clubhouse this season.

The USS Mariner blog believes the Mariners were not a 75 win team that luckily scrapped out 10 more wins.

Huskies/Cougars

The Huskies had a tough loss to swallow on Saturday. Tim Booth takes a look at their emotional state the day after. The game isn’t the only thing the Huskies lost at Notre Dame. Starting free safety Justin Glenn is out for the season.

Jake Locker was so upset after the loss to the Irish he avoided talking to the media, and Bob Condotta has the reason why. I’m not buying this one. If you want to be a top 10 pick the NFL draft, you need to be able to talk to the media after a tough loss. Also in that story, check out Chris Polk’s quote near the end where he says:

“everybody knows if you watch the replays, they know that the two-point conversion that his knee was down, and that when I scored it was a touchdown. They [Notre Dame] didn’t beat us, the refs beat us, in a sense.””

Um, what is going on with the excuse-making? Between Polk and Mora, I’m a little surprised at all the excuses in the past few weeks…

Dave Boiling feels Jack Locker had the right to ignore the media following the game on Saturday.

Nick Daschel believes Notre Dame won because they simply were the tougher team. Art Thiel realizes many were disappointed by the outcome of the Huskies vs. Notre Dame game, but it didn’t stop him from enjoying it.

Chris Polk and the Huskies did not feel the replay officials had the best day Saturday.

Todd Milles takes a look at the aggressive play calling coach Sarkisian shows by going for it on 4th down. Ted Miller’s Pac-10 power rankings has the Huskies moving up a spot to 7th despite losing this weekend. He also takes a look at the Pac-10’s games this upcoming weekend.

Jim Moore is not feeling so good about his Cougars after a rough weekend down at Autzen Stadium. WSU hopes to bounce back this week when they host the Arizona State Sun Devils this Saturday.
