Carl Peterson weighs in on Seahawks GM situation

Carl PetersonCarl Peterson, former president, general manager, and chief executive officer of the Kansas City Chiefs for 20 years, came on the show today to provide his take on Tim Ruskell’s resignation, how the Seahawks should move forward looking for the next GM, and more. One key point made by Carl that should intrigue Seattle fans was his opinion on splitting the GM and team president duties:

“I think at this point you need to split the job. I think the general manager should only take all of his time and focus on the football side of it…And the president and CEO has got so many other things on his plate, it’s hard for him to do that. My recommendation is to split the job, and go from there.”

If the Seahawks share that sentiment, it could open the door to bring in Mike Holmgren in a similar role Bill Parcells has in Miami, as Mike and Brock have discussed on the show this week. Carl went on to say he feels the Seattle GM job is a top 10 position in the NFL given the front office, facilities, and fan base.
