Mariners to bring the fences in

The Mariners waste no time making an announcement I was was sure we would get during the offseason. They will indeed bring the fences in. From the press release:

From the left field corner to a point about midway between the bullpens, the wall will be moved in four-feet. The biggest change will be from the left field power alley area to straightaway center, where the wall will be as much as 17-feet closer to home plate. From straightaway center to right center, the wall will be moved in-four feet.

What this looks like:

For years players have grumbled about the dimensions of Safeco Field and the Mariners have addressed the biggest area of concern for right handed hitters in particular.

I will have more on this later this afternoon as Jack Zduriencik will talk to the media at 3 and I should have player reaction shortly after that as well.
