The Seahawks have lost two games in two weeks, matching the total number of December defeats they suffered from 2012 through 2014.

For the first time in six years, they don’t have control of their playoff fate.

Throw in the injuries, the age of the team and an inconsistent offense and it all adds up to an unprecedented situation for most of the players on this roster.

O’Neil: What we’re still trying to figure out about Seahawks

“We’ve never really had to face adversity in the season like this,” receiver Doug Baldwin said. “We’ve had our struggles. We’ve endured some pretty devastating losses before. But I think, just the time frame in which we’re in, the situation we’re in, the state of our roster, age-wise, so many different factors play into it.”

This is the first time in two years the Seahawks have suffered back-to-back losses and only the fifth time it has happened in six seasons. They haven’t lost three in a row since 2011, the season before Russell Wilson was drafted.

The Seahawks need to not only win their final two games to reach the playoffs, but they need one team in the NFC South to go 0-2 and for Detroit to go 1-1.

Desperation doesn’t describe the Seahawks’ mindset heading into Sunday’s game at Dallas. More like determined.

“We’ve been resilient before,” Baldwin said. “We’ve gone through trials and tribulations. We’ve had our issues, but we’ve always seemed to find a way and I think that’s no different. I think this is just a different test.”
