Justin Britt finished Sunday’s Seahawks win over the Giants, playing the final three quarters after suffering a sprained ankle.

Whether he will be able to start Sunday’s game against Houston remains an open question as he sat out Wednesday’s practice and won’t practice until Friday at the very earliest.

Carroll: Freeney to make Seahawks debut Sunday; updates Lane’s status

“We’re thinking he’s working to get back this week,” coach Pete Carroll said. “It’s going to be a challenge, but we’re thinking that. By Friday, we’ll decide whether he can practice or not. We’ll give him a couple of days here.

If Britt is out, the Seahawks will face a question: Start Ethan Pocic at center and leave Mark Glowinski to man left guard, or promote Joey Hunt from the practice squad to fill in at center.

“Practice-wise we’re really working Mark and Ethan at left guard,” said Tom Cable, offensive line coach, “as well as Ethan at center and then Joey at center as well. Kind of covering all of our bases here a little bit.”

Britt missed six plays in Sunday’s game with Pocic filling in. Pocic played center for most of his career at LSU.

“He jumped right in,” Cable said. “No issues. He’s got so much of it in his background. We practice it every day. He gets a certain amount of snaps at center so not worried about that. He’s ready to play.”

But the Seahawks are still hoping Britt will be practicing by Friday, which would render all the contingency plans moot.
