Russell Wilson was injured in the third quarter of Seattle’s game against San Francisco and forced to miss a regular-season snap because of injury for the first time in his five seasons with the Seahawks.

Wilson was already playing through a sprained right ankle, which he suffered in the third quarter of the regular-season opener against Miami.

This injury was to his left leg – likely his left knee. He was scrambling to his right when he was tackled from behind by 49ers linebacker Eli Harold. Harold pulled Wilson down by the back of his shoulder pads, falling directly onto Wilson, whose left leg twisted awkwardly underneath him.

Harold was penalized 15 yards for a horsecollar tackle. Wilson remained on the ground after the play and was tended to by trainers. He came off the field for one play, replaced by rookie Trevone Boykin. Wilson re-entered the game to finish the series, handing off twice to Christine Michael and throwing once before the Seahawks settled for a field goal to make the score 27-3.

Boykin was on the field to start Seattle’s next possession as Wilson was on the bench, trainers fitting him with what appeared to be a knee brace. Wilson was up and walking around with the brace and asked for his helmet, but did not re-enter the game. Wilson spoke with coach Pete Carroll and offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell after the Seahawks settled for a field goal on Boykin’s first full possession in the game.

Seattle was leading 30-3 at that point, and he didn’t re-enter the game.
