The Seahawks return to action this weekend after their bye week when they take on the Las Vegas Raiders in Seattle. And while the Hawks enter the game at 6-4 and in first place in the NFC West, they are looking to rebound from a loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Germany.

What Robert Turbin is looking for Seahawks to do coming out of bye

So what do the Seahawks need to do this Sunday against the Raiders to get back on track? Former NFL receiver Michael Bumpus shared his thoughts Monday morning on Seattle Sports 710 AM’s Bump and Stacy.

Overall, Bumpus said the Seahawks, like other sports teams and even people, need “little reminders” to do the simple things in order to limit the margin of error.

“On offense, I’m just gonna say get back to the boot game, get back to running the ball, be stubborn when it comes to running the football,” Bumpus said. “That’s gonna open up everything for you. I don’t care if these guys go three-and-out on the very first series because they ran the ball two or three times. Set that thing up because the tight ends are the best when they’re in the pass boot game.”

Quarterback Geno Smith is “great outside the pocket,” Bumpus said, and the Seahawks’ tight ends do a good job of getting open in the passing game.

“And once you start to hit those intermediate tight ends, what’s going to happen? Those safeties are going to bite up and the (deep routes) open up,” he said.

What about on defense?

“Defensively, hit the quarterback. Hit the quarterback. I think they got one hit on Tom Brady while in Germany and they didn’t sack him at all. Be violent again,” Bumpus said. ” … I’m not gonna sit here and tell (Seahawks defensive coordinator) Clint Hurtt, ‘You should try this gameplan and this play gets this down a distance’ … I’m just gonna keep it as simple as possible. Hit the quarterback as many times as you can make him uncomfortable. Simple as that.”

What are realistic expectations for Seahawks CB Tre Brown’s early return?
