QB Tarvaris Jackson still limited in practice

Quarterback Tarvaris Jackson is expected to be limited again in practice this week.

“It feels a little better,” Jackson said on Wednesday of his pectoral injury. “I didn’t have many strenuous throws in the game, so it feels a little bit better. That’s good as far as coming into this weekend and the following week playing on Thursday, so that’ll be big to get extra day in.

“It feels a lot better than it did last Monday.”

Jackson said that he doesn’t really feel the injury while playing, and that he’s thinking about the defense more than anything. But hurting or not, Jackson has missed valuable practice time resting the injured muscle. Last week, he threw just one day — for a total of around 20 balls.

“Yeah, I always want to be out there practicing,” Jackson said. “I’ll still get out there and try to do a little something. Even when I do throw, I get out there and my arm starts bothering me a little bit I still try to practice because I just want to get the looks in, I want to be able to get the throws in.

“But they keep trying to remind me that the main objective is to be ready for Sunday, so it’s kind of hard. I’ve never really missed a lot of time like this, so it’s kind of difficult coming to practice knowing that I’m probably not going to practice. But I just try to do the best I can with the amount of reps I get.”

Jackson said that the injury will continue to bother him until he has time to rest it, or surgery, or both.

“It amplifies the message that we got earlier on — that he just continues to fight through it,” head coach Pete Carroll said during his Wednesday press conference. “I couldn’t be more proud of a guy for fighting. He loves to play the game, he wants to play for his teammates and he’s not going to miss it unless we yank him out of there. He’s just going to find a way.

“He’s really doing some courageous stuff I think.”

Notes

• Wide receiver Sidney Rice did not participate in practice on Wednesday and was listed on the practice report with a knee injury. Carroll had said during his earlier press conference that he intended to “rest” Rice on Wednesday.

• Both safety Atari Bigby and defensive lineman Anthony Hargrove were full participants on Wednesday after having missed Sunday’s game with hamstring injuries.

• Both right guard John Moffitt and right tackle James Carpenter were scheduled to undergo surgery on Wednesday. Carpenter is expected to be placed on the injured reserve some time this week, opening up a spot on the active roster.
