Under terms of the NFL’s new collective bargaining agreement, rookie contracts cannot be renegotiated or extended until the completion of a player’s third year. That makes Year 3 a pivotal one for those hoping to convince their teams they’re worthy of a more significant financial investment.
Seahawks linebacker K.J. Wright is entering his third NFL season. A fourth-round pick by Seattle in 2011, Wright has been the team’s starting strong-side linebacker the past two seasons.
