The toughest decision the Seahawks are facing

For NFL general managers and coaches, the final week of August is among the most difficult times of the year. It’s when they first have to decide who will be cut, then deliver the news to players who suddenly find themselves out of work.

“You’re talking about mens’ lives, their careers,” Seahawks general manager John Schneider told “Brock and Danny” on Wednesday, a day after Seattle made its first round of cuts.

Among the players released was Will Blackmon, a cornerback who played for the Packers when Schneider was working in Green Bay’s front office.

“I have a great relationship with Will Blackmon,” Schneider said. “I got up yesterday morning and my wife’s like, ‘So, what’s going on this morning?’ I said, ‘I’ve got to go talk to Will.’ We were with him in Green Bay. Believe me, it’s part of the job. I love it (being a general manager). But this time of the year, that part of the job is not anything to look forward to.”

Roster’s must be reduced from 75 to 53 by 3 p.m. Saturday, which means another round of decisions for Schneider and coach Pete Carroll. In the video below, Brock Huard and Danny O’Neil agree that the decision on fullback Michael Robinson is the toughest one Seattle’s brain trust is facing.
