RENTON – There’s no news on left tackle Russell Okung, which is anything but good news.

Not if you were hoping for Okung to return any time soon.

Okung is seeking a second opinion on his injured toe, according to coach Pete Carroll, who added he will be out for this week’s game.

It’s going to be a lot longer than that, and the possibility it is season-ending is still dangling out there. The coach didn’t say that, and the team didn’t announce that, but that is the reality.

This isn’t something that’s going to heal in a couple of weeks. In fact, the question now is whether the injury is so severe that it will require surgery. That brings us to the second opinion because any hope that this would be a short-term injury is being supplanted over the worry about just how long Okung will be out.

In his place, Paul McQuistan steps in at left tackle, moving over after starting the first two games at left guard.

Note

O’Brien Schofield played defensive end last week, but he will be seeing time at strongside linebacker this week. Expect the Seahawks to be looking at a number of different combinations over the next few weeks as Chris Clemons and then Bruce Irvin return.
