Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson followed up what might have been his worst performance of the season in a loss last week to Arizona with undoubtedly his best in Sunday’s win over San Francisco.
One of the highlights was a 24-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Tyler Lockett, which is the subject of this week’s “Chalk Talk” video.
That play was one example of how effective Wilson was Sunday against the blitz, an area in which he in particular and Seattle’s offense in general have struggled at times this season. According to ESPN Stats & Information, Wilson was a perfect 11 for 11 for 136 yards and three touchdowns when the 49ers sent an extra rusher.
As Brock Huard explains in the video above, a few of the keys on that play were Lockett’s release off the line of scrimmage and how Wilson manipulated the defense before delivering a perfect throw.
