Where is David Price?

Aug 15, 2012, 12:32 PM | Updated: 12:34 pm

David Price has blossomed into one of the best pitchers in Major League Baseball. He has vaulted into the Cy Young discussion this year thanks to his 2.50 ERA, 151 whiffs and 1.12 WHIP in 155 IP. He is also an impressive 15-4 this year. He has started 117 games since 2008 and boasts a 3.19 career ERA. He has made three All-Star teams and pitched in the World Series. He has done almost everything with one glaring exception………..face the Seattle Mariners.

He has pitched against the Yankees seventeen times! It is not like he is restricted from traveling west. He has seen the Angels (seven times), Rangers (seven times) and A’s (six times). He has gone against every AL team at least three times and he has even pitched against the Phillies and Marlins a combined five times. The Nationals, Mets, Brewers, Astros, Rockies, Reds, Braves and Diamondbacks have all seen Price pitch.

In contrast, teammate Matt Moore has started twenty-four games in his short career and three of them have been against the M’s. Jeremy Hellickson has seen the M’s four times in fifty-four starts.

Baseball is a strange game.
