8/23: Go 2 Guy wants a Seahawks QB controversy

-Danny O’Neil of The Seattle Times offers a few thoughts on Seahawks linebacker Aaron Curry‘s restructured deal, which cuts the final two years off his rookie contract and makes him a free agent after the 2012 season.
-Mike Sando of ESPN.com weighs in on Curry’s restructured deal, as well as the Seahawks’ signing of former Rams linebacker David Vobora.
-Colleague Jim Moore writes on his website that he wants to see Charlie Whitehurst start the Seahawks’ next preseason game. The Go 2 Guy: “If you ask me, I’m guessing that Whitehurst will still be more effective than [Tarvaris] Jackson when he goes against first-stringers. I say that because Whitehurst appears to have more confidence this year. His body language looks different to me. He also puts some serious zip on the ball. And he might not be as mobile as Jackson, but he’s agile enough to escape the rush too.”
-Per 710 ESPN Seattle’s Liz Mathews, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll showed support for Jackson after Saturday’s preseason game. Carroll: “I love that Charlie played well, and I think we need to give Tarvaris a chance to play well, too, with the guys around him. I felt like he was out there fighting for it and did a good job of competing.”
-Mason Kelley of The Seattle Times writes that UW junior cornerback Desmond Trufant is doing the little things in fall camp that will allow him to make big plays. Trufant, a starter as a freshman, had an uneven sophomore season.
Kelley: “Trufant said the little things caught up to him as a sophomore. Sometimes he lined up too deep. Sometimes he wasn’t deep enough. Sometimes it was as simple as taking a step the wrong direction at the snap. It became the difference between making a play and giving one up.”
-Dave Cameron of USS Mariner writes that while the Mariners will have money to find an upgrade at third base this offseason, they might not have many viable options.
