RENTON – Running back Eddie Lacy said he’s learning in his first season in Seattle that “you never know what kind of surprises you’re going to get” at a Seahawks practice.

Like Kendrick Lamar showing up.

The superstar rapper was the latest celebrity guest to make an appearance at Seahawks headquarters. He was there Monday, which came as a surprise to the players who didn’t notice him until he standing in the middle of their post-practice huddle.

No wonder the DJ’s set list on Monday included a healthy amount of Lamar’s greatest hits, including several in succession towards the end of practice.

“I had no idea he was here until he walked in the huddle,” Lacy said. “I was like, ‘Whoa, who’s that?’ And you could see him, he has his hood on, it’s like, ‘Oh, that’s Kendrick.’ Didn’t expect him to be (that) short, though.”

It was not a surprise to middle linebacker Bobby Wagner. Apparently he had Lamar are friends.

“He broke the huddle down and he called Bobby up there and they broke it down together,” Lacy said. “Then everybody put their hands up and he disappears. It was like a magic trick.”

Strong safety Kam Chancellor said Lamar is filming a documentary in the area.

“At first I didn’t even see him,” Chancellor said. “I didn’t know he was that small! I couldn’t even see him in the crowd. I think it’s pretty cool to have a guy like that out here. That’s so many of these guys’ favorite rapper. I like him as a rapper, like what he’s about, so I think it’s cool to bring him out here.”
