ZZZZZags!

The Zags turned the ball over 3 of their first 5 possessions against North Carolina and had that look of a team not ready for prime time. Predictably, although I had them to win in my bracket, Gonzaga faded like a school from a small conference. Think about it. When in conference have these guys and this coach had to put an all out emotional, physical effort to win a game? That’s what they needed against the Tar Heels. Instead they went to sleep on Ty Lawson and Turbo Tyler. Mark Few is where he belongs in Spokane and coaching the WCC. His club scrambled within 11 with 9 minutes left and seemed to have some life then N.C. called time out. This is when you get a sense for just how much of a handle a coach has on the game. After a time out how does his team respond? Well, N.C. got back to back threes and the game was over. The Zags showed little discipline with the ball and defensively in the first half gave up good looks at the hole. Carolina is just a better team, maybe a national champion. The Zags are a sweet 16. That’s still not bad. Time to go fly fishin.
