Knock on wood, the Seahawks have been a reasonably healthy football team in 2012. Head coach Pete Carroll admits this week has been the biggest injury challenge of the season.

During the week as many as nine players – six of them starters – watched practice due to injury and illness. As of Friday, only two players have been definitely ruled out of Sunday’s home game against the Jets.

Carroll said linebacker K.J. Wright and guard James Carpenter were still not cleared from their concussions. With Seattle heading into a bye week after Sunday, Carroll hopes to have both players completely healthy for the Nov. 25 road game against Miami.

According to Carroll, defensive lineman Greg Scruggs will be a game-time decision as he continues to deal with an oblique injury. While cornerback back Walter Thurmond is now on the active roster and had two solid practice weeks, he will also be a game-day decision.

Running back Marshawn Lynch (back), defensive end Red Bryant (foot), receiver Braylon Edwards (knee), safety Kam Chancellor (quad) and defensive tackle Clinton McDonald (groin) all should be ready to play Sunday, according to Carroll.

Defensive lineman Jason Jones is expected back in the rotation after missing two games with a sprained ankle.

“We’re thrilled to have him back, and we hope he’ll be a factor in our pass rush situations,” Carroll said.

Second-year man Mike Morgan will take Wright’s starting spot at outside linebacker. Carroll is convinced the former USC Trojan will play well with a full week of practice under his belt.

Carroll expects the Jets to offer a physical, tough brand of football knowing their season might be on the brink with just a 3-5 record. Carroll anticipates Rex Ryan’s defense will bring plenty of pressure on Seattle’s rookie quarterback, but he’s convinced Russell Wilson is ready to take advantage of the blitz schemes.
