Erring on the side of aggressiveness
The Seahawks are gaining a reputation as a physical team that will punch you in the mouth and fight you for every last yard. Brandon Browner, a no-name cornerback from the CFL, is steadily gaining a reputation as the epitome of that image.13 years ago
Pete Carroll’s faith in Tom Cable is paying off
Consecutive 100-yard rushing games from Marshawn Lynch shows the Seahawks' young offensive line is coming together.13 years ago
Not all penalties are created equally
I studied the last five years of the least penalized teams and the most penalized teams and was surprised by the results.13 years ago
Three meaningful NFL statistics (and one meaningless)
Now that every team is at the halfway point of the 2011 NFL season (six teams have played nine games), a look at certain statistical categories is telling - some significant, and some meaningless in a good way - especially for the Seahawks.13 years ago
Seahawks done in by third quarter from hell
Dave Wyman revisits a disastrous third quarter that did the Seahawks in during their loss to the Cowboys and explains why they were able to run the ball so effectively.13 years ago
Ripping off the Band-Aid
The last time the Seattle Seahawks traveled to Dallas to face the Cowboys (November 1, 2009), the Seahawks lost a game that wasn't as close as the score indicated (38-17).13 years ago
Seahawks, referees need to get back to basics
A lot was made of Pete Carroll's ill-fated fourth-down decision on Sunday. But Seattle's inability to run the ball is a much bigger concern than clock mismanagement.13 years ago
Football 101 – Out on an Island
Rookie Richard Sherman is happy to feel that pressure. The fifth-rounder out of Stanford will be making his first start this Sunday and will find out first-hand what that pressure is all about.13 years ago
Don’t overreact to Whitehurst’s performance, either
That was just one game and he's just one player. I understand that he's the most important player but the rest of the Seahawks offense didn't do Whitehurst any favors on Sunday.13 years ago
More insanity from the NFL, Part III
It wouldn't be right if I didn't take this opportunity to accuse Roger Goodell and the NFL league office of destroying the game that I love.13 years ago
Go Back to Cleveland, Cleveland!
Could it be that the Hawks can finally stand toe-to-toe with a team on the road in the eastern time zone and slug it out for a win in the early 10 a.m. game?13 years ago
Jim Harbaugh: Everything but the handshake
Love him or hate him, there's no denying that Jim Harbaugh is one heck of a coach and the rest of the NFL should be more concerned about his coaching ability than his lack of social grace.13 years ago
Aaron Curry: Why would you do that?
To put it simply, Aaron Curry often did things on the field that made this old linebacker say, "Why would he do that?!"13 years ago
Atonement for the much maligned
The Seattle Seahawks' trip to New York to face the Giants offered them some opportunities to not only pull out a scrappy win, but for a team and its parts to make some reparations headed into the bye week.13 years ago
Browns RB Peyton Hillis and his ‘scratchy throat’
I know that I can come off as the grumpy old man that says things like "They don't make 'em like they used to", but maybe this story will turn you into a grumpy old man too.13 years ago
The Importance of Film Study
By the time my nine-year NFL career was over, I had watched enough film to make me never want to see another football game as long as I lived. Now, I'd give anything to watch some real game film.13 years ago
Kam Chancellor’s hit and Roger Goodell’s miss
We're quickly arriving at the point where it will be easier for the NFL to tell players what they can do rather than what they can't do.13 years ago
Blaming Tarvaris Jackson for losses is amateurish
If you saw both Seahawks games this year and blame Tarvaris Jackson for the 0-2 start, you might be an amateur.13 years ago
Don’t blame travel if Seahawks struggle in Pittsburgh
The Seattle Seahawks will definitely have their hands full with the Pittsburgh Steelers this weekend, but if they lose, I'm not buying the time zone excuse or the travel excuse.13 years ago
Seahawks lost battle of ‘Hidden Yards’ against 49ers
The Seahawks defense held Alex Smith and the 49ers to just 209 yards of total offense, but penalties, turnovers and special teams miscues cost them the game.13 years ago
Dave Wyman recalls his first NFL start
Seahawks strong safety Kam Chancellor will be making his first NFL start this Sunday and it gets me thinking about my first start.
