Seahawks’ Irvin, Bennett, two Patriots fined for Super Bowl scuffle

The scuffle that broke out in the closing seconds of Super Bowl XLIX has resulted in four fines from the NFL – two apiece for the Seahawks and Patriots – a league source has confirmed.
Bruce Irvin was fined $10,000 – the most of the group – for unnecessarily striking an opponent, which resulted in a 15-yard penalty and his ejection. Michael Bennett was fined $8,286 for the same thing.

New England’s Rob Gronkowski was also fined $8,286 for unnecessarily striking an opponent – “throwing haymakers” as he joked – while teammate Michael Hoomanawanui was fined the same amount for unnecessarily ripping off an opponent’s helmet.
