The Seahawks are listing running back C.J. Prosise as questionable for Saturday’s divisional-round playoff game at Atlanta. Coach Pete Carroll said Thursday that Prosise would be a game-time decision, which typically aligns with a questionable status.
So there’s still some hope that Prosise will be able to play for the first time since he broke his shoulder blade in Week 11. My gut, though, continues to tell me he’s more on the doubtful side than questionable.
Prosise returned to practice this week, listed as limited on Wednesday and a full participant on Thursday and Friday. Friday’s practice was merely a walk-through, so the listed player participation was an estimation. And all week Prosise was was wearing a red jersey in practice indicating he hasn’t been cleared for contact.
I can’t recall the last time a Seahawk returned from an extended absence and played in a game after one week of practice. The team is leaving that door open, though.
“He made it through practice all this week,” Carroll said Thursday. “We’ll just take it day to day and take it to the stadium and see how it goes.”
Carroll added: “He’s regaining his confidence and kinda getting going again. It’s been a while, seven weeks or something like that, so he took a lot of turns yesterday and again today. So he’s getting back. Not sure how we’re going to do that. We’ll check him after the whole week’s work on Friday and see how it goes and then all the way to game day.”
Given his tenuous status, it’s hard to imagine Prosise playing a significant number of snaps if he is available Saturday. He would likely resume his role as Seattle’s third down back if he’s active. But that’s a major if.
Prosise was the only player listed on Seattle’s final injury report, which means all others are expected to be available. Carroll said Thursday that fullback Marcel Reece has recovered from his foot injury and that defensive tackle Tony McDaniel has been cleared from the concussion that kept him out last week.
