The Mariners announced the following roster moves Wednesday afternoon.
• Steven Baron, C, designated for assignment
• Steve Clevenger, C, outrighted to Triple-A Tacoma
• Ryan Cook, RHP, outrighted to Triple-A Tacoma
• Charlie Furbush, LHP, outrighted to Triple-A Tacoma
• Adrian Sampson, RHP, claimed off waivers by Texas
• Ryan Weber, RHP, claimed off waivers from Atlanta
Cook, Furbush and Clevenger all had to clear waivers before being outrighted, and each has accumulated enough service time to opt for free agency rather than accepting their assignments to the minors if they desire to do so.

With the World Series now over, some key dates are now solidified. Nov. 7 is the deadline for teams to reinstate players from the 60-day DL (with Wednesday’s moves only Nathan Karns remains on the DL), and players who are eligible become free agents Thursday morning will be free to sign with all clubs Nov. 8. On Nov. 18 reserve lists must be filed by 5 p.m. for Rule 5 protection.
Weber, 26, was selected by the Braves in the 22nd round of the 2009 draft and was used mostly in relief last year with the Braves. He went 1-1 with a 5.45 ERA in 16 games, striking out 23 and walking 5. In 26 games with Triple-A Gwinnett in 2016, including five starts, Weber was 2-3 with a 2.76 ERA with 41 strikeouts and 14 walks.
With the moves Wednesday the Mariners’ 40-man roster remains full.
